Srđ Portolan in his capacity as Dubrovnik Luxury Travel‘s executive director welcomes the news published on Croatia Week website about September 2016 bringing down the record barrier with accomplished over 10 million overnight stays with a record number of 14.3 million tourists being on the territory of our beautiful country in September alone. According to Ministry of Tourism officials revenue of 8 billion eur is secured with additional billion and a half coming from local Croatians cross country travelling.
Srđ Portolan has previously highlighted the importance of nautical tourism and its sustainable development strategy. According to Croatia Week 300,000 overnight stays came from boaties on the coast. The good weather factor certainly helped both to nautical tourists and those willing to explore Croatia in a less hurried way in the month of September. Portolan adds it is commonly understood that those tourists with deeper pockets tend to visit Croatia I the months of September and October. Srđ also states that this season 2016 has so far outperformed season 2015 by 3.4 million overnight stays which is an encouraging indicator for the growth of Croatian economy.
